What Semax Nasal Spray Actually Is
Semax is Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. Seven amino acids, pulled from ACTH(4-10), given a Pro-Gly-Pro tail so enzymes cannot eat it in minutes. The tail is the invention. Why Semax Comes as a Spray — and Why People Still Inject It
Swallow Semax and the gut treats it like lunch. Whatever scraps survive go through the liver. Oral Semax is a wasted bottle. The nose skips that. Thin mucosa, a lot of blood vessels, and two nerve paths — olfactory and trigeminal — that sit next to the brain. The theory is a fraction of the dose rides those paths and does not have to win a fight with the blood-brain barrier.
Shevchenko 2006 tagged Semax, sprayed it in rats, and found it in brain tissue inside two minutes, peaking around thirty. The fraction that arrived was small, well under one percent. It arrived fast and mostly intact. That is the pharmacokinetic excuse for a spray, and it matches the 15–30 minute window in user logs.
A spray is not automatically a precise brain delivery system. Congestion, angle, pump volume, concentration, and whatever is in the preservative system all move the number. Two people on “the same” bottle can absorb different amounts. That is why a tested, labeled concentration matters more than a pretty pump.

How Semax Works
BDNF first. Fertilizer for connections, the protein people mean when they say plasticity. Dolotov 2006, Brain Research: one research dose in rats, hippocampal BDNF protein up 1.4×, BDNF mRNA up 3×, TrkB phosphorylation up 1.6×. That is the paper. It is not a healthy-human IQ trial.
Eremin 2005 is the dopamine and serotonin piece. Semax did not dump dopamine on a quiet brain. It amplified activity that was already running. That is why the logs say “sharper” more often than they say “wired.” NGF, inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, cerebral blood flow, and enkephalinase all show up in the animal file. What People Take in a Spray

Base Semax is what the papers used. N-Acetyl adds a cap so aminopeptidase has a harder time. NASA caps both ends. Community calls NASA stronger and longer. There is no head-to-head human trial. Side effects on a spray: nasal burn, drip, first-week headache if the mcg jumped, irritability at the high end, sleep damage if you dose late. Russia: registered drug. United States: not FDA-approved, not a supplement, sold as research use. July 24, 2026 PCAC voted to recommend Semax free base and acetate for the 503A Bulks List (8–5–1). That vote is not a final rule. Compounding pharmacies are not cleared just because a committee liked the nomination.
