BrainFlow participates in various affiliate advertising programs. This page explains what that means for you and how we maintain editorial integrity while earning revenue to support our content.
What Are Affiliate Links?
Throughout BrainFlow, you’ll find links to products and services we mention in our articles. Some of these are “affiliate links,” which means we may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase.
These links look and function exactly like regular links. The only difference is that the retailer knows you came from our site, and they pay us a small referral fee as a thank you for sending you their way.
Does This Cost You Anything Extra?
No. You never pay more by using our links. The price is exactly the same whether you click our link or go directly to the website. The commission comes out of the retailer’s marketing budget, not your pocket.
In fact, we often negotiate exclusive discount codes with brands we partner with. When you use codes like “BRAINFLOW” at checkout, you’re actually paying less than you would otherwiseโwhile also supporting our site.
Why We Use Affiliate Links
Running BrainFlow takes time and money. We spend countless hours researching supplements, reading studies, watching podcasts, and compiling information so you don’t have to. Affiliate commissions help us:
- Keep the site running and ad-light
- Pay for hosting, tools, and software
- Invest time into creating in-depth, well-researched content
- Avoid putting articles behind paywalls
Without affiliate revenue, we’d either need to plaster the site with annoying ads or charge for access. We think this model is better for everyone.
Amazon Associates Program
BrainFlow is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated websites.
When we link to products on Amazonโwhether it’s a book, supplement, fitness equipment, or anything elseโwe may earn a small commission if you purchase through that link. Amazon’s commission rates vary by product category but typically range from 1-10%.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This includes purchases made on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.uk, and other Amazon international sites.
Other Affiliate Partnerships
In addition to Amazon, BrainFlow participates in affiliate programs with various health, wellness, and supplement companies. These partnerships allow us to earn commissions when readers purchase products through our links.
The specific companies we partner with may change over time as we discover new products worth recommending or as partnership opportunities evolve. Regardless of the partner, our editorial standards remain the same.
When we provide exclusive discount codes, these are typically arranged through direct partnerships with brands. Using these codes benefits you (savings) and us (commission), which we think is a fair exchange.
Our Editorial Policy
โ ๏ธ Affiliate relationships never influence what we write.
This is the most important part of this page, so we want to be crystal clear:
- We don’t recommend products just because they have affiliate programs. Many products we mention have no affiliate program at all. We recommend them anyway because they’re good.
- We don’t let commissions influence our opinions. If a product sucks, we’ll tell youโeven if we’d make money by recommending it. Our reputation and your trust matter more than a commission check.
- We choose what to write about first, then look for affiliate links second. We never write an article just because there’s money in it. Content comes first, monetization comes second.
- We disclose when we have personal experience. If we’ve personally used a product, we’ll tell you. If we’re basing recommendations on research alone, we’ll tell you that too.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
We don’t individually mark every affiliate link in our content because it would clutter the reading experience. However, you can generally assume that:
- Links to products on Amazon are affiliate links
- Links with discount codes are likely affiliate links
- Links in product reviews and “best of” roundups may be affiliate links
If you’re ever unsure and prefer not to use affiliate links, you can simply search for the product directly on the retailer’s website. We won’t be offendedโthough we do appreciate when readers use our links to support the site.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
The FTC requires that we disclose any relationship we have with companies whose products we recommend. This page serves as that disclosure. We believe in full transparency with our readers.
Questions?
If you have any questions about our affiliate relationships, how we make money, or our editorial policies, we’re happy to answer them. Transparency is important to us.
