The Supplement Routine of Dr. Dom D’Agostino

You may have heard of Dr. Dominic “Dom” D’Agostino before. He has performed insane feats of physical prowess such as dead-lifting 500 pounds for 10 reps after a 7-day fast. Dom is a professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, along with being a senior research scientist at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition.

Dom is considered to be an expert regarding the ketogenic diet and all things ketosis. In his lab, he studies metabolic therapies and nutritional strategies for peak performance. His research has been sponsored by the Department of Defense and the Office of Naval Research. The guy is an animal and practices what he preaches.

In an interview with Tim Ferriss, Dom went into immense detail regarding his daily and weekly supplement routine. After years of research and experimenting, Dom has assembled a pretty stellar stack.

This supplement routine is geared towards somebody who is on the ketogenic diet, so be sure to keep that in mind. This stack is meant to optimize and improve the benefits of the ketogenic diet. Regardless, you do not have on an intense keto routine to try these supplements.

Dom D’Agostino Supplements – Brands & Products:

  • Quest Nutrition MCT Oil Powder and Quest Nutrition Coconut Oil Powder: MCT Oil or medium chain triglycerides are healthy, fatty acids that enhance ketone body production and have a myriad of health benefits such as enhanced cognitive function, boosting energy, aiding in weightless, regulating hormones, etc. Coconut oil is a great way to get MCT’s and consists of over 65% MCT’s.
  • Kettle & Fire Bone Broth (2-3 time per week): Bone broth is a staple in the ketogenic and paleo diets. Bone broth helps to improve joint health, treat leaky gut syndrome, boost immune system, and aids in detoxification.

  • Magnesium (daily): Dom takes magnesium citrate, magnesium chloride, and magnesium glycinate. He attributes magnesium for getting rid of cramps when he first began the ketogenic diet. Magnesium plays an integral role in virtually every metabolic function in the human body. It is involved in over 300 enzymatic processes, and is present in every cell in the body. Magnesium is also one of the most common world-wide deficiencies. Dom’s go-to magnesium supplement is a magnesium citrate powder called Natural Calm.
  • Scivation XTEND Perform branched-chain amino acids: Branched-chain amino acids are a great supplement for building muscle and increasing exercise performance. BCAA’s also help to prevent muscle waste, reduce sore muscles, and decrease fatigue. These are great for getting rid of any lethargic feeling you may get from the ketogenic diet.
  • KetoCaNa and KetoForce: During the ketogenic diet, the body fuels itself using fats and ketones instead of carbs. Ketones are a powerful fuel used by the muscles and brain, generating more fuel than carbs do. Taking exogenous ketones reduces your demand for oxygen and takes your mental performance to the next level. KetoCaNa contains 11.7 grams per serving of the ketone body Beta-Hydroxybutyrate.

  • Pruvit KETO//OS: This powdered supplement contains exogenous ketones and caffeine. Pruvit helps you get into ketosis fast and is great to take after consuming carbs to sustain blood ketone levels.
  • Kegenix: This is another great tool in Dom’s toolbox to help maintain ketosis. By mimicking the body’s natural ketogenic process, it delivers a blend of ketones to both elevate and sustain ketone levels in the body.
